Type Sebastian Salgado in to you search engine and you will probably get more hits than almost any other photographer. I was first introduce to his work by a photographer friend of mine. Ever since then he has been an inspiration to my photography and humanity.

Websites – Build your own

There are so many websites now available for building your own website.

Here are a few I’ve found that especially for the photographer.

http://www.photoshelter.com/
A more photographer centric company you will not find. Not only do they offer a fully comprehensive website service, they also create most helpful guides on all aspects of photography.

Simple, easy to use, great templates.

https://prosite.com
Set up projects in your Behance portfolio, share them with the worlds creative community then publish on a Prosite. Connected to Adobe this is a powerful website tool.

http://www.clikpic.com/
Cheap, customizable but not particularly inspiring designs.

500px.com
A lot like Flickr, a photo sharing community. However, from here you can build a cheap and slick online portfolio. Limited templates can be adapted if you know your coding.

This is my current portfolio site made on 500px: http://jhyturley.com
